Art Mouton, K5FNQ (formerly KN5FNQ, 1960)
The photo above is of Art Mouton, KN5FNQ, who is now K5FNQ. Art is with his Johnson Challenger and Hammarlund HQ-145C. The photo was probably taken in 1960 or 1961 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Art's first receiver was an S-107. Everyone in the log was 599 since the Rx was so broad those were the only signals he could hear. He talked his parents into getting him a Hammarlund. That was a much better Rx. Art worked 49 states as a novice and won Louisiana (as the only entry) in Novice Roundup. Art's Elmer, Bud, then K5UYL (now N5AN), has his QTH about 2 blocks from Art. Instant QRM as we are both DX chasers.
